This is the enormous, ugly Base 6 alternative in the Montlake area, which has 9 lanes all the way to I-5. The scale of this is staggering. Notice how you could practically reach out the window of the NOAA Fisheries facility on the far left and touch the freeway. Notice how the lid is separated from the meadow to the north (which is part of the Arboretum) by a three-lane moat of traffic. Notice how the footprint of this highway in the Arboretum is actually very wide, with braided ramps to bring the inside HOV lanes to the outside so HOV's can enter and exit at Montlake Blvd., on the wrong side of a narrow drawbridge from the UW and the Sound Transit station.
