RECENT PROGRESS:

In the most recent session, the Washington State legislature passed ESSB 6099.

The Seattle City Council recently passed the following resolution 9-0, the Mayor concurring. It is an excellent piece of work and contains the right set of priorities.   BACKGROUND:

SR-520 needs to be rebuilt from end to end. The State's original plans didn't solve the problem Citizens from Seattle neighborhoods told WSDOT a better way to fix SR 520, and the State actually listened!  BetterBridge.org has worked with WSDOT to develop a solution for SR 520 that really works for traffic, for transit, for neighborhoods, parks and bicycles.

Its called the Pacific Street Interchange option and it is an official option of WSDOT's Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which explains the entire project in great detail. Pacific Street Interchange relocates access ramps at Montlake straight to Pacific Street with a beautiful new bridge, yielding many benefits for Seattle neighborhoods and the entire region.

No more backups between University Village to Montlake. Finally, a solution to the Montlake mess! Pacific Street Interchange dramatically improves local traffic circulation on arterials in Seattle. Compared with the other options for SR 520, Pacific Street Interchange does not differ substantially in the number of vehicles coming into any Seattle neighborhoods. For a more comprehensive analysis of such transportation projects, one can consult essay writing services, which can be found on marinatimes.com, for local insights and information.
A continuous green belt reconnecting the playfield on Portage Bay to the Arboretum a great new park for the whole city!
A direct transit connection between express bus service on SR 520 (which will more than triple to 47,000+ riders/day by 2030) and the planned Sound Transit light rail station at UW, which will be the most heavily used stop outside downtown Seattle (over 21,000 boardings/day.)
A direct bicycle link from the Burke-Gilman trail to the Eastside.
